Primary adaptation of the Cognitive Failures Questionnaire (version 2) in a Russian-speaking population

Authors: Gornushenkov I.D.1, Pluzhnikov I.V.1

Abstract

This publication is an initial adaptation of an updated version of the Cognitive Difficulties Questionnaire (version 2), which is widely used abroad. The questionnaire allows subjective assessment of cognitive difficulties encountered in everyday life. The original version of the questionnaire has a single-factor structure with one factor ‘general level of cognitive difficulties’ and consists of 15 questions, which are asked to be assessed on a 5-point scale. A forward and backward translation from the original English version, semantic, cultural and stylistic correction of the questions by expert method was made. The sample of adapatisation consisted of 109 people without psychiatric and neurological disorders – students of psychological universities and mental health professionals. The studied sample proved suitable for the factor analysis procedure according to the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin measure of sampling adequacy and Bartlett’s test of sphericity. Exploratory factor analysis revealed the presence of one main factor (13 loadings out of 15) and a second additional factor (2 loadings). Confirmatory factor analysis revealed unsatisfactory psychometric characteristics of the desired single-factor model. Exclusion of 2 questions – loadings attributed to the additional factor resulted in satisfactory characteristics of the model (CFI=0.889, TLI=0.886, RMSE=0.07). The final version of the questionnaire included 13 questions. The normative indicators were highlighted.

Abstract

Introduction. The development of assisted reproductive technologies, in particular in vitro fertilization (IVF), on the one hand, helps to overcome infertility, on the other hand, entails a number of problems (moral, ethical, socio-psychological, cultural, religious, neuro-psychiatric). Infertility, as a traumatic factor that is emotionally significant for a woman, negatively affects her mental state and intra-family relationships. The realization of a woman’s social and biological need for motherhood has a beneficial effect on her mental health and contributes to the harmonization of family relations.

Aim: to assess the dynamics of the mental state and reproductive function of women with infertility undergoing IVF treatment based on the results of a catamnesis.

Methods. 190 mentally healthy women with infertility undergoing IVF treatment 2 years after their inclusion in the study were examined by the clinical and catamnestic method.

Results. Within two years after IVF, 144 pregnancies occurred (75.79%). 45 (31.25%) ended in childbirth, of which 26 (57.8%) – by Caesarean section. 74 (51.38%) women had pregnancies with the threat of miscarriage, 43 (29.9%) had an undeveloped pregnancy requiring termination, 56 (38.8%) women had a miscarriage. Pregnancies due to IVF occurred with obstetric and somatic complications. The most frequent were edema caused by pregnancy (27%), disorders of fat metabolism (25.7%). %. In total, 76.32% of the patients continued infertility, which was a mental trauma contributing to the development of mild anxiety and depressive disorders. The presence of depression and anxiety before the IVF procedure was a risk factor for its adverse outcome. Successful childbirth led to stabilization of the mental state.

Conclusion. Infertility Prolonged and painful examinations and surgical interventions for infertility, IVF and its unsuccessful outcome cause depressive and anxiety disorders that negatively affect the possibility of conception and gestation, including IVF. These psychosomatic mechanisms must be taken into account when diagnosing infertility and choosing therapeutic tactics.

Abstract

Background. The reason for the study is the insufficient knowledge of perception disorders and the role of emotions in the regulation of mental and physiological processes of adaptive behavior in patients with non-psychotic depressive disorders (NDPR).

Aim: to establish the relationship between the experimental psychological characteristics of the thinking and intelligence process with the level of stress reactivity and social adaptation in patients with NDPR. The results obtained serve as the basis for studying the dynamics of clinical and pathopsychological characteristics of patients during antidepressant therapy (see part 2 in the next issue of the journal).

Patients and Methods. The study included 134 patients aged 18 to 45 years with a diagnosis of non-psychotic depressive disorder (depressive episode, recurrent depressive disorder, dysthymia, ICD-10 cipher: F32.0 – F32.2; F33.0 – F33.2; F34.1), who were observed in inpatient and out-of-hospital conditions. The leading psychopathological disorders in the examined patients were mild and moderate depressive disorders with a predominance of anxiety, asthenic and hysterical clinical variants. Methods: clinical and psychopathological analysis, assessment of psychological status using the automated diagnostic system «Multipsychometer» (MPM-05). The battery of tests included: methods of evaluating thinking, tests of verbal, non-verbal intelligence, and mathematical intelligence, frustration and social adaptation by S. Rosenzweig, the clinical and typological SMIL test.

Results. Before the start of treatment, patients with PDPR showed a decrease in the effectiveness, flexibility, and operationality of thought processes as frustration and stress increased. With increasing indifference, alienation to one’s condition and needs, indicators of logical thinking and verbal intelligence decreased.

Conclusion. The results obtained in patients with NDPR indicate different mechanisms of the processes of formalization, categorization, identification of mental activity and their relationship with the factors of frustration of social adaptation. They are determined by non-specific changes in the functioning of thinking and the development of psychomotor retardation, characteristic of non-psychotic depressive disorders.

Authors: Bezchasniy K.V.1

Abstract

In order in the structure of the coping behavior of police officers, 74 employees were examined who were diagnosed with adaptation disorders according to ICD-10 criteria (F. 43.2). During the study, features in the style of protective response were identified; it has been shown that the differences are both purely gender-specific and cross-cutting, reflecting the specificity of the maladaptation syndrome. Relationships of perfectionism scales with co-behavior strategies and psychological protection mechanisms have been investigated. Proposals are given to implement the obtained results in psychoprophylactic work with internal affairs officers suffering from adaptation disorders, which will serve to increase their professional reliability.

Abstract

The review analyzes the study of neurobiological changes under psychotherapeutic influence (PTV) in the historical aspect and from the perspective of modern research. The data of neuroimaging studies in psychopathology are analyzed; changes in neuroplasticity and epigenetics in various variants of PTV. The recorded changes in MRI, EEG and neuroepigenetics can be considered as markers of effectiveness in the future. There are still relevant questions about the patterns of correlation between mental and neurobiological changes. The search for an answer to the last question is significant for improving the quality of diagnosis of mental disorders, optimizing approaches to psychopharmacotherapy and studying the response to treatment in the context of the concept of «personalized» psychiatry.

Abstract

Domestic and foreign scientists have repeatedly noted that after suffering from SARS-CoV-2 infection, some patients have painful manifestations, including from mental processes. The set of symptoms that persist in patients after recovery from COVID-19 has been called «post-acute COVID-19 syndrome». Psychopathological manifestations in the postcovid period differ in polymorphism and include mood disorders, asthenic manifestations, neurocognitive deficiency, which requires additional nosological interpretation. The purpose of review was to analyze current literature sources on the problem of the occurrence of psychopathological symptoms, their clinical dynamics and pathogenetic mechanisms of formation, and also the structure of post-acute COVID-19 syndrome in patients who have undergone a new coronavirus infection COVID-19.
